Paying for College

The financial silver lining of teen motherhood is that you’ll be eligible for much more financial aid than you probably would be otherwise. Becoming a parent turns you into a financial independent. What that means is that schools can’t charge you based on any money your parents have — only the money you have. And since you probably don’t have much money, you’re more likely to get satisfactory financial aid.

Financial aid you receive will come in one of two forms: loans or grants. Loans eventually have to be paid back; grants do not.


FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid)

The FAFSA is an application for college financial aid from the federal United States government. That aid can come in the form of loans or grants.
